Two Charged With First-Degree Murder in BC, Victim Linked to Anti-Iran Work
Canadian authorities have filed charges against Mehdi Ahmadzadeh Razavi and Arezou Soltani, both accused of first-degree murder after the discovery of Masood Masjoody’s body in Mission, British Columbia. Masjoody, a 45-year-old former math teacher and vocal critic of the Iranian regime, was declared missing in early February. Although authorities have deemed this a ‘targeted incident’ and have pointed out previous arguments on social media between the suspects and Masjoody, the exact motive is still unclear. This has caused a stir in the Canadian-Iranian community, especially because Masjoody’s organization, which is dedicated to fighting against the Iranian regime, has deemed this a case of political violence in relation to Masjoody’s investigations on foreign intimidation networks.
